Great Wine: Sharecropper’s Pinot Noir

By

As written by Bob Dylan and later interpolated by Jimi Hendrix, “Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth.” It had to take good business acumen to produce a wine so full of unique Oregon artisanal character at such an affordable price, but the 2012 SHARECROPPER’S Pinot Noir is pure salt of the earth. No grapes of wrath here, what you taste is the dust, sweat and heart of a farmer’s labor in the rich dark cherry mirth and round warmth of the red wine’s musky tannins. 2012 was a boom year for Oregon’s grape growers, and there shall be no rich stealing from the poor in these parts—this wine is by the people, and for the people.  –J.M.
