Here’s a California Cab for trivia buffs. What is the city of Los Angeles’s only producing winery? The San Antonio Winery, of course, located in Downtown Los Angeles (shame on you if you answered “there aren’t any”—did you think we would throw a trick question your way?). The winery’s 2010 SAN SIMEON Cabernet Sauvignon, with fruit sourced from Paso Robles, is big and brooding. The tannins have formidable force, adding a layer of complexity to the concentrated flavors of dark fruit. Cedar is also evident. The standout characteristic of this wine, however, is the long finish that goes on for minutes. Uncork now and pair with juicy steaks—and, after dinner, entertain your friends over a game of Trivial Pursuit. –R.K.
