Santa Barbara county got on the wine map for its Pinot Noirs, but it should be more famous for its Syrahs, some of the best in the world outside of the south of France. The 2008 RUSACK Syrah (now Ballard Canyon Estate Syrah) is living proof. Man, it’s good! No, I mean good. Luscious, primal, pretty and fantastic. There’s nothing else to say. This is damn good. So, dude, have some. -J.M.
