Easy like Sunday morning. Soft and mellow, the Moscato’s got sweet disposition. Nectar, ginger, orange oil, yellow peach, elderflower and vanilla—these are the scents of a 2014 Piasa Sanmaurizio Moscato d’Asti DOCG from the winery Forteto della Luja, located in Loazzolo, a village in the Asti province of Piedmont, Italy. It’s a family tradition at this estate, with vines planted 90 years ago by the family’s great-grandfather. So pleasant, so fruity—the acid level is low, so the wine’s honey sweetness and purity of fruit really comes forward, as does its floral qualities. Giving all this mellow yellow a lift are soft, relaxing bubbles on the palate like froth. Best served chilled but made for chillin’. The Moscato’s got warmth and comfort like sunshine. Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone. So, make the bottle last. Take it slow and easy, like Sunday morning. –J.M.
