No reason to wait until New Year’s to do the bubbly. Pick any day you choose and make it like the start of a new year. Who says you get to set new life goals and make resolutions only on January 1? Make a resolution, instead, to not be bound by the illusion of time. Time is all relative and a figment of the mind’s ego. Life is a continuum of open doorways to new opportunities and discoveries that starts right now, this moment. And for that journey? How about an invigorating, life-enhancing, crisp, bright, enchanting—and affordable—sparkling wine like the MUMM NAPA Brut Prestige. Handcrafted from 45% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Gris and Pinot Meunier (a grape that goes into a lot of high-end Champagnes), this is as balanced as it gets. And you’re going to need balance for the adventure that is life itself. Toasty with pleasing notes of stone fruit (peach, apricot, nectarine), there’s enough pleasantry here to fill you up with courage until the next time you’re out of courage, at which time you pop another cork. See how easy this is? Happy New Tuesday. –J.M.

Our September 2014 Review:[dropcap size=dropcap]T[/dropcap]he MUMM NAPA Brut Prestige has all the fundamentals of sparkling wine down pat. Probably the best large-volume producer of bubblies in America right now, don’t be turned off that this bottle can be found on the shelves of CVS, Buy Rites and Walgreens stores all across the country—this is classy and elegant stuff, and you can taste the craft and care with every crisp, toasty swig of it. I’ve never found a cheap champagne that wasn’t disgusting, so kudos to Mumm Napa for focusing on providing affordable and excellent bubbly to the everyday wine enthusiast out there. The snobs have all day in the sunshine with their how-do-you-pronounce-it French cuvées, but this is proud to be Regular Joe American. –J.M.
