Truly, one of the most enchanting rosés out there.

When you think rosé, the mind goes to France or, now, even America—but Tuscany is not generally the first that comes to mind to those outside of Italy. That will change.

The 2016 LA SPINETTA “Il Rosé di Casanova” is as exotic and romantic as it sounds. Made from 50% Sangiovese (the noble grape of Chianti and Brunello) and 50% Prugnolo Gentile (a variation of Sangiovese as referred to in Montepulciano), this is a delicately salmon-colored rosé that’s lean, precise, clean, tart and bright from one of the great modern estates in Tuscany.

To start, there’s wonderfully fresh floral notes on the nose—pink flowers and rose petals—along with mandarin orange and pink grapefruit. On the mid-palate, complexity of radicchio note, and then the juiciness of sour red cherry and peach emerge on the finish and linger as an aftertaste. Add silky textures and scintillating character to this perfumed wine and what’s not to love? It’s just really yummy (there’s no better word for it) and delightfully refreshing.

Il Rosé di Casanova does what rosé is meant to do: lift the spirit and delight the soul. It’s pure, refined enjoyment.  –J.M.
