For fans of creamy & buttery Chardonnay, you can’t beat the fundamentals the 2007 CLOS DU BOIS Calcaire Chardonnay gets just right down to the vine. Rich and elegant, with a taste of lemon meringue at its core balanced by a vibrant, exuberant finish, you really can’t ask for a better drink, say, if you find yourself on a patio overlooking the St.-Tropez, dressed in a short-sleeve white linen shirt and slacks reveling in the Mediterranean sun and breeze. In reality, you’re probably just having this bottle of wine with dinner you made on a Tuesday night after work, sitting on your couch behind the coffee table bingeing on episodes of House of Cards in an apartment smack-dab in the middle of a crowded and bustling city, but give it a moment … breathe in, breathe out, take a couple of sips … it just might take you there. -J.M.
